Archibald Corbett successful in bid to raise health awareness in Catford South

The Archibald Corbett Society is pleased to announce that it has been successful in its bid for funding to develop a programme to create greater health awareness among the Afro/Caribbean community in Catford South ward.

The funding has been awarded though Our Place, a programme run by Locality, in partnership with the Local Government Association and delivery associates such as the Community Development Foundation. The programme aims to give people more power over local services and budgets in their neighbourhoods, aligning these with all the other resources that the community can bring. Our successful bid will focus on raising awareness of vulnerability amongst the local Afro-Caribbean community to certain illnesses such as Type 2 Diabetes and heart attacks, which can lead to mortality at an earlier than average age.Watch this space, or come to our first Open Meeting on Monday 9 June at the Catford Assemblies of God Church on Glenfarg Rd, SE6 1XN, to find out more. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
